The tacos were great. I had steak, pastor, and chicken. All three had great flavor and were good sized.

For sure it's one of the best Mexican places in Logan Square, and it has no lack of competition. It sucks only that it's no alcohol, cash only, and closed Sundays. El Habanero is among a lot of kind of small ethnic restaurants along Fullerton. Has an authentic menu but it accessible enough for those who aren't familiar with these kinds of items. There's some vegetarian choices amidst all the beef and pork tacos. Came here recently at lunch. It's not a big place. There's only a few tables. Even so it wasn't that crowded. This seems like a place where most people are from the neighborhood. Also most eating here were Mexican or Latino. That's a pretty good sign, because that means the food is authentic and good enough for them. Has some authentic beverages. It's about $3 for Aguas De Tamarindo. Cool and refreshing. The food menu contains lots of meaty options but there's some vegetables. Each of us got the Vegetariano Burrito. It's about $10 and it's a big one. Comes with cheese and sour cream but leave these off for non dairy. This was filled with beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. Filling lunch. These are enough to feed a couple people. Get a lot of good authentic stuff from here. It's got no alcohol and it's cash only and closed Sundays but it's great besides all those. There's plenty to choose from for meat eaters and also has things for vegetarians.

Love this restaurant! The family is super nice, and it has a super nice ambience with good seating, plenty of decorations, and lots of plants. The food is great, and I try and take the opportunity to come here when I can.

We came here for breakfast in a Saturday morning. It does suck that they are closed Sundays, and open at 11 for breakfast during the week including Saturdays. Makes it really hard to do. I finally made it in. Service was great and the food was delicious. They start you off with chips and salsa. The green salsa was good, but the red thick chunky salsa that they serve was unique but full of flavor. My wife ordered their chilaquiles verdes and I ordered their rojos. Both were delicious and came with fried eggs and carne Asada. The tortillas were covered in the sauce and then topped off with sour cream, queso fresco and cilantro. The meat was seasoned well and made for a very filling dish. The owners kept coming out apologizing for the long wait, which wasn't even that long in the first place. And they also wanted to know how the food tasted. Great loving and welcoming people. I will definitely be returning.

Great local business in Logan. Interior is very clean The staff here are so friendly and it seems family run. I've never seen the place be too busy for dine in but they definitely seem to do a lot of takeout. Pambazos are what they are known for here. The asada pambazo is especially tasty. I'm not a huge fan of tortas but if you are then these are a must have. Their other dishes are all very tasty, and the meat isn't overwhelmingly greasy like some Chicago joints. I'm a big fan of the sopes as well here. There is homemade salsa, and you can ask for the extra spicy salsa as well. However, when we came there were no chips at the table. Definitely a solid option for Mexican if you're in the area!
